Injectable Butt Lifts

If you desire a more shapely rear end but do not want to go through the surgery required for a Brazilian butt lift, an injectable butt lift may fill the bill. Technically, the procedure is known as non-surgical gluteal augmentation.

With a Brazilian butt lift, fat is taken from one part of the body via liposuction and injected into the buttocks. Because many women do not have the extra body fat necessary for a Brazilian butt lift, injectable butt lifts are a good alternative. They can provide you with the rounded, curvy, better-defined bottom you always wanted.

Injectable Butt Lifts

Butt lifts are cosmetic procedures designed to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks. There is no medical reason to perform such a procedure, but a butt lift can make a person feel more attractive and self-confident. As with other parts of the body, gravity takes its toll on the butt as time passes. No amount of exercise will restore the buttocks to their original rounded, tight form, but injectables can.

Unlike the Brazilian butt lift or the insertion of butt implants, there is no downtime after an injectable butt lift. While the results of other butt lift procedures are dramatic, injectable butt lifts provide more subtle and gradual results. The look is completely natural. The effects should last between two and three years, at which time the patient can repeat the procedure.

Injectable butt lifts are not cheap, but they are less expensive than more invasive butt lift procedures. Plastic surgeons generally charge about $1,000 per vial, but the number of vials necessary will vary by patient. The approximate cost ranges between $4,000 and $10,000. There are also regional variations in pricing. Expect to pay more in large metropolitan areas. Because this is a cosmetic procedure, insurance will not cover it.

Dermal Fillers

Injectable butt lifts comprise the injection of dermal fillers into the buttocks to provide volume and rejuvenate the skin. Some injectables stimulate the body’s production of collagen. Collagen is the body’s most abundant protein and is responsible for keeping the skin elastic and firm. The amount of collagen produced by the body slows with aging, another reason sagging occurs at the same time.

The filler most used in injectable butt lifts is Sculptra. Unlike other types of dermal fillers, which primarily consist of hyaluronic acid, Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid. When Sculptra is injected, an inflammatory response occurs. This response not only stimulates collagen production but also encourages the formation of scar tissue. This combination causes gradual tightening and lifting of the buttocks.

The FDA has approved Sculptra only for use on the face. However, plastic surgeons find that when used for butt lifts, Sculptra is very effective.

Injectable Advantages

Not only are the injections virtually painless, but they do not take a lot of time. Each treatment takes between 45 minutes and an hour. For some people, it is indeed a “lunchtime” procedure, or perhaps scheduled directly after work.

Injectable Butt Lift Preparation

Prior to your sessions, avoid taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or aspirin for at least two days beforehand. Do not drink excess alcohol either the day before or the day after a session. While you can resume most normal activities after injection, do not engage in strenuous exercise for at least two hours afterward. Do not lie flat for the same two-hour period.

Injectable Butt Lift Procedure

The doctor calculates how much Sculptra is necessary for the client, and then identifies the prime injection points. The needles used are very thin, unlike the thicker needles needed for fat injections. You will receive a topical anesthetic on the injection sites before treatment. Once the session is finished, you can resume normal activities without downtime.

Expect to undergo two to three sessions, scheduled about one to two months apart. The patient will notice changes in their buttocks about the time they are scheduled for the second session. The final effects may not prove visible for several months. Much will depend upon the size of the buttocks and the amount of correction wanted.

Injectable Butt Lift Side Effects

While injectable butt lifts are generally quite safe, as with any procedure there is always the potential for side effects. As with any injection, there is a small risk of infection. Call your doctor if the injection site becomes painful, red, or swollen, or if a discharge develops.

Sculptra does not dissolve in the same way as other dermal fillers. That means small bumps and lumps are more likely to appear. In a worst-case scenario, you could get stuck with bumpy buttocks for a couple of years until the filler wears away. The only alternative is undergoing surgery for bump removal.

You may experience some soreness in the gluteal area for a day or two after the injections.
